Watch polo on the beach in Cornwall

Families looking for a spot of entertainment while holidaying in Cornwall might want to head to Watergate Bay to see a game of polo being played on the beach.

The Veuve Clicquot Polo on the Beach event will take place on September 16th and will see two teams play an exhibition game of arena polo, which is a more fast-paced version of the sport.

More than 3,000 people headed to Watergate Bay last year for the match – a record number.

"Polo can seem intimidating but this event is the exact opposite; it’s great to see as many people as possible discovering how exciting and entertaining the sport can be," says Romain Herbelot of title sponsor Veuve Clicquot.

The event is free to attend and a public champagne bar and beach barbecue will be available before the game starts at 18:30 BST.

If you’re using Heathrow car rental, it takes around 4.5 hours to reach Watergate Bay via the M4 and M5.
