Visitors using car hire at Manchester Airport can experience a flavour of Britain's history and traditions with a visit to the town of Ironbridge in Shropshire on November 6th.

The daytime can be spent enjoying the industrial heritage of the town, with its many themed shops, as well as the bridge itself across the gorge from which the town takes its name, built by the architect Thomas Telford.

Having enjoyed a taste of Victorian life, visitors will be able to turn their attention to gunpowder and treason as the annual commemoration of Guy Fawkes' foiled attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament takes place with a fireworks display at 19:30 GMT.

Tickets for the pyrotechnics can be bought in the Ironbridge Visitor Information Centre, priced £9 for adults and £5 for under-16s.

To get to Ironbridge from the airport, take the M56 motorway southbound to Junction 7, joining the A56 to reach the M6 motorway, heading south as far as Junction 11.

From here, take the A460 to join the M54 heading towards Telford, before leaving the motorway at Junction 4 and taking the A464 and A442 through the outskirts of the town and onto Ironbridge.
