Use car hire at Stansted for elephant extravaganza
Those who fancy a day at the zoo using car hire at Stansted Airport can enjoy a trip to see a new elephant exhibition at Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire.
Walkway Uda Walawe – named after a Sri Lankan national park – was opened late last month and it is the only Sri Lankan-style habitat for Indian elephants anywhere in the UK.
It is and the walkway offers all the family a great chance to see these beasts in close-up, living as they would if they were on the lush tropical island.
Features include a traditional tree hut where visitors enter, as well as a number of cultural and religious symbols associated with Sri Lanka.
To get to Twycross, take the M11 up past Cambridge and then switch on to the A14, heading west across to Junction 23 of the M1.
At Junction 20, exit for the A4303 until it joins the A5 heading north to Nuneaton.
From here, take the A444 to Atherstone, where Twycross Zoo is based.
