UK’s best attraction to be decided
Car hire customers may be interested to know that a number of attractions have been shortlisted for the prize of best venue in the UK.
The Rough Guide to Accessible Britain Awards shortlist was launched, with the winners to be announced in April.
One institution that has been nominated is the Science Museum, found in south Kensington, London.
Kate Steiner, head of audience research and advocacy at the building, is delighted to be nominated in the Best Family Venue category, adding that it had taken special measures to make its premises more acceptable for deaf and disabled visitors.
She added that the establishment had tried to "create an inclusive culture – where visitors can fully enjoy our collections, exhibitions and events".
The other categories that will be decided by experts are Best Heritage Venue, Best Active Venue and Best Free Venue.
A fifth accolade, the Readers’ Choice prize, has been voted for by consumers and guide fans online at accessibleguide.co.uk.
