Tourists “spoilt for choice” in Edinburgh
Car hire customers paying a visit to Scotland may wish to head to the capital, as an expert has highlighted the range of activities on offer.
Sinead Feltoe, a regional director at VisitScotland, explained that Edinburgh proved popular among tourists in 2009.
The likes of Edinburgh Castle, Camera Obscura and the Scotch Whisky Experience all had "exceptional years", she said, while overall trips to attractions between January and October increased more than four per cent compared to a year earlier.
Among the reasons offered for this was the fact that visitors are "spoilt for choice", both in the city and in the areas surrounding it.
Ms Feltoe recommended attending one of Edinburgh’s festivals, while car hire customers can also "explore the many museums and art galleries in the New and Old Towns or find the perfect spot on Arthur’s seat to take in the city".
This week, PKF found that Edinburgh was the only Scottish city in which hotel occupancy rates increased in 2009.
