South-west England ‘ideal place for American visitors’
Car hire customers coming from America have been advised to discover the south-west of England.
A team up between South West Tourism, Bath Tourism, Destination Bristol and Bristol International Airport will see a new consumer campaign launched that is designed to advertise the area’s many activities.
In 2008, £77 million was generated for the south-west economy from the 200,000 American visitors that arrived.
Kirsty Cumming, head of marketing, South West Tourism, noted that the information drive will allow people to find out where the places of interest lie – with the scheme designed to appeal to both regular visitors and individuals coming to England for the first time.
She added: "We have four World Heritage sites along with an abundance of castles, forts and stately homes in addition to our literary connections."
It was recently announced that the company had began a £1 million promotional campaign, which would attempt to draw visitors from London, the Midlands and the South East.
