See the “beautiful” South Downs with Gatwick car hire

Car hire at Gatwick Airport could take people to the South Downs, between Winchester and Eastbourne along the coast.

Wildlife documentary producer Nick Stringer recently recommended the region in an article for the Guardian, naming it one of the best places to see nature at its finest in the world and describing it as "beautiful".

He suggested people walk along the South Downs Way, the main trail across the area, along which they will be able to admire open pastures, ancient hill forts and "stunning" beech woods.

Cycling on this route is also a great way to see wildlife, Mr Stringer continued, noting: "From bluebell woods, to pastures of rare orchids and butterflies, there's plenty to see."

Red kites and buzzards can often be seen circling in the sky and barn owls sweep over the fields in the early evenings, he added.

Eastbourne is approximately an hour's drive away from Gatwick Airport and car hire users should take the M23 followed by the A23 to reach it.
