Those using Heathrow car rental might like to drive to Bath, after the city was praised for its beauty.

Politician Ann Widdecombe described it as "one of England's crown jewels" in an interview with the Daily Telegraph.

She said there is a lot to do there, unlike other destinations with just one must-see attraction, so visitors should bring a good guidebook with them to ensure they do not miss anything.

Ms Widdecombe suggested people go to the Jane Austen Museum, which is "the perfect introduction to Bath" as the city is featured in so many of the writer's novels.

The Roman Baths are an equally "fascinating" attraction and also "synonymous with the city", she continued.

For a light lunch or afternoon tea, Ms Widdecombe recommended Sally Lunn's, while she stated the Moon and Sixpence is popular with the locals for dinner.

To reach Bath from Heathrow Airport, car hire users need to travel along the M4, which should take less than two hours.
