Riverside fun with car hire at Stansted Airport

While those using car hire at Stansted Airport may wish to travel around many places away from London, there will be a very good reason to head for the heart of the British capital on September 11th and 12th, as this is the occasion of the Mayor's Thames Festival.

It promises "an exciting mix of arts, spectacle and entertainment, all focused around the River Thames," with performers including artists, musicians and dancers and there will be plenty of shows, food and a firework finale from barges on the river.

Events will be taking place all around areas near some of London's most famous bridges, such as London, Westminster, Waterloo and Blackfriars bridges.

And by being in central London over the weekend, it will be possible to enjoy the myriad of other attractions ion the capital.

To get into central London from Stansted, take the M11 motorway, which enters the metropolis from the north-east.

Leave this as it terminates on the North Circular road (A406) and turn left, before joining the A12 heading towards the centre.

After a left turning at Leman Street (A1202), take the right turn onto the A11, which will take you into the City.
