Raft of fun for Manchester Airport car hire users

Those using Manchester Airport car hire to explore the countryside of northern England may enjoy a bit of family fun with a raft on England’s largest lake.

On August 7th, the Lake District National Park’s visitor centre by the lake shore at Brockhole will be hosting a course for those aged eight and over in the basics of rafting.

Costing £6, the course starts at 10:30 BST and lasts for two hours, with participants advised to bring a towel and a change of clothes, as they may get wet.

Those visiting Windermere can enjoy a wide range of experiences on the water, with many ferries heading up and down its length and another crossing the lake towards the woods of Claife Heights.

Getting from Manchester Airport to Windermere is simple.

Firstly you should take the M56/A5103 northbound to the M60 Manchester orbital route, before travelling westbound to join the M61 heading north.

This will join with the M6, which continues through Lancashire into Cumbria.

Exiting the motorway at junction 36, you should take the A590 towards Kendal and then the A591 to Windermere, with this road passing through the town and down to the lake shore, and Brockhole on the left.
