New London City Airport service ‘doing well’

London City Airport car hire customers may be pleased to hear that British Airways’ (BA’s) new business class service to New York will probably not be disappearing any time soon.

The company revealed that demand has been higher than expected in the two months since the £1,900 flights began operating and one analyst suggested to Bloomberg that its popularity is likely to grow in the future.

Nick Cunningham of Evolution Securities commented: "It’s a bit like flying on a business jet and clearly aimed at bankers and lawyers, so if [the mergers and acquisitions sector] picks up, as in the end it always does, then the service could be quite successful."

BA had been aiming to make the service profitable within 12 months, but it is already in the black, despite passenger numbers being down across the business’s services by 6.2 per cent between November 2008 and 2009.

Its latest traffic statistics suggested that demand for short haul and non-premium flights are stable at the moment, but long haul premium flights are on the up.

Doesn’t really seem to have much to do with his Visa Sig card. That fee is probably there regardless, so without the discount the fee would have been a tad higher at $41.10.

So he is still saving $37 and change in regards to Visa Sig card vs. other card.

Not saying that I would like what National is doing either, more pointing out the mis-titling of the article…
