Mums are the safest drivers, survey finds

Car hire customers planning an outing over the bank holiday may be interested to hear that children feel safer when mum is driving, according to a new survey.

GEM Motoring carried out the report and it revealed six in ten kids aged between five and 16 stated they are happier when their mother is behind the wheel.

Around 83 per cent of the youngsters quizzed remarked they feel their fathers drive too fast and are impatient.

Chief executive of the organisation David Williams said: "Dads seem more intent on getting from A to B as quickly as possible, whereas mums will take things slower and spend their time singing or chatting to the kids."

He added that it is up to parents to make their offspring feel safe when they are passengers in a vehicle.

Meanwhile, car hire customers will soon have more choice when it comes to choosing a vehicle as Budget Car Rental has noted it is adding six locations at airports across the UK, with the first site opening in May at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
