Car hire customers who want to drive a stylish car, but still want to look after the environment and their own carbon footprint may want to lease a Mercedes-Benz F800.

A plug-in hybrid vehicle, according to the Times Live, it combines "eye-melting design with all the goodness of green technology" – and it shares the basic underpinnings of the current S400 Hybrid.

The car has an 81 kW electric motor, coupled with a 223 kW 3-litre V6, which means that the F800 has a fuel economy figure of 2.42/100 km and its CO2 emissions are 68 g/km – it also manages to reach 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.

Transport Secretary Andrew Adonis recently said "decarbonising transport isn’t an aspiration – it’s a reality", adding that transport has a huge role to play in the UK meeting it’s carbon emissions reduction targets and helping put Britain at the forefront of global ultra low-carbon vehicle development.
