Join in “world-class” Christmas celebrations with Edinburgh car hire

Car hire at Edinburgh Airport could take people into the city centre, where they will be spoilt for choice with festive goings on.

The city has launched its Edinburgh Sparkles campaign, highlights of which include a chocolate workshop and a brand new ice rink set against the backdrop of the iconic castle.

Alan Johnston, chair of the Destination Edinburgh Marketing Alliance – the body behind the project – said: "Nowhere else can compare to this city at Christmas … This is a world-class capital and we're set for a world-class Christmas."

Other attractions include the traditional German market and Light Night on November 25th, where there will be street theatre entertainment and an aerial display to illuminate the Christmas tree.

Edinburgh was also recently recommended by the Daily Telegraph as a top destination for festive shopping, noting its "atmospheric cobbled streets come into their own at Christmas", while children will enjoy the funfair from November 26th to January 4th.
