High as a kite with Heathrow car rental

Bristol International Kite Festival takes place over the weekend of September 4th and 5th, at Ashton Court on the western fringes of the city.

Each day will see the fun start at 12:30 BST and continue until 17:00, with a wide display of kites in all manner of shapes and sizes being promised by organisers.

Interesting shapes and designs include octopuses, fish and lizards, Pinnochio, a 3d monkey, Thunderbirds, Wallace and Gromit and even kites shaped like gothic cathedrals.

Family entertainments include the chance for brave toys to be raised up on kites and then parachute down, so those with kids may wish to pack the teddy.

To add to the festivities, the weekend will also include the Bristol Half Marathon.

Visitors to the city can enjoy its zoo too, as well as attractions in the nearby countryside such as the caves of Cheddar Gorge and the beaches of the Bristol Channel.

Getting to Bristol from Heathrow is easy, with most of the journey being accomplished by heading across on the M4 in a westerly direction, before taking the M32 into the heart of the city.
