Go steaming along with Heathrow car hire

Heathrow car hire users can enjoy the sight of a somewhat slower and more old-fashioned form of transport than the vehicle they pick up at the airport if they arrive in early September.

Between September the 1st and 5th, the Great Dorset Steam Fair takes place in the village of Tarrant Hinton near Blandford Forum in the middle of the county.

This year's show is the 42nd and it is spread across a 600-acre site and has a wide range of vintage steam engines on display.

As well as the many vehicles rolling past, there is plenty of entertainment for all the family, including a big wheel, live bands on stage and plenty of crafts and food to buy, plus face painting for the little ones.

To get to Blandford Forum, take the M4 motorway out of Heathrow and exit at junction 4b for the M25 anticlockwise, heading south.

Leave the M25 for the M3 at junction 12, heading towards Southampton and leaving to join the M27 towards Bournemouth at Junction 13.

This merges onto the A31, followed by turns onto the B3073 and B3082 and onto Blandford Forum, from where organisers have said the show will be well signposted.
