Enjoy walking festival with car hire at Glasgow Airport
Some visitors to Scotland using car hire at Glasgow Airport may wish to see it countryside and next month will provide a reminder that people don't have to head north to the Highlands to do this.
The Borders Walking Festival concentrates on the sparsely populated and hilly areas in the south near the border with England, starting on September 4th and ending on the 12th.
People whose families are fit and keen to get on the high hills might like walks such as the September 10th hike on the Ettrick Ridge, which has four summits over 2,000 ft (610 metres).
And those visiting the Scottish Borders region may also enjoy attractions like Gretna Green, the village where young couples from England used to run away to in order to get married in the past, when the law allowed people to wed at a younger age in Scotland.
The borders region is easily reached from Glasgow Airport, with the M8 motorway taking you through the city and out to the east, where the M73 heading south links with the M74, which takes you down into the Borders region on the way towards England.
