Drivers told to give cars a COAT
Motorists have been told to ensure they check oil and tyres (COAT) before hitting the roads this winter, in order to minimise the potential of a breakdown amid harsh weather conditions.
Kwik-Fit customer services director David White said that not only is it unpleasant having a car fail in the cold and wet, there is also a safety risk involved in not ensuring everything is in proper working order.
"We urge younger drivers to follow the lead of the older, more experienced motorists and get into the habit of making those regular checks and remember that car COATs are a must-have item this winter," he remarked.
His comments were made as Kwik-Fit revealed around eight million drivers have not checked their COATS for at least six months.
Such examinations are perhaps not needed for car rental customers, with Europcar’s Catriona Lougher stating this month that all of her organisation’s vehicles are fully maintained, offering consumers the "peace of mind" they desire during winter time.
