Leicestershire will be hosting a range of activities later this month that could be ideal for Father’s Day excursions.

At Tank Mania in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, you can drive a tank or armoured vehicle around a purpose-built track, while the Father & Son Bushcraft Adventure workshop at the National Forest promises to offer a "Ray Mears-style survival experience", according to Leicestershire Promotions.

If you choose to visit the National Space Centre in Leicester on June 20th, all dads can get in for free and find out about the workings of the solar system and the wider universe.

Steam train enthusiasts can also head to the Great Central Railway in Loughborough to get behind the controls of a train and learn more about this once-dominant form of transport.

If you’re using Heathrow car rental, you can get to Leicestershire easily via the M1 north.

The journey is around 112 miles long, depending on the route you take.
