Car hire customers who are considering visiting Devon may be interested to know that the Dartmoor National Park Authority (DNPA) has produced a free booklet.

For visitors and residents, it offers guidance on how to best experience the area, listing hundreds of local events and what guided walks are available.

All facilities will be open from April 1st and during the summer season they will operate from 10:00 to 17:00 GMT.

For those attracted to the thought of rambling, the Postbridge Information Centre is the best place to go.

It has a "wide selection of maps books and guides" and is hosting the exhibition Climate Change: I can change the future, the organisation notes.

There is also a new building at Haytor, which will provide an orientation point and "stepping stone to encourage exploration, enjoyment and understanding".

The DNPA exists to secure, for the public, "the conservation, enhancement, enjoyment and understanding of the special qualities of Dartmoor."
