Car hire users could benefit from fuel price cuts
Car hire users could benefit from fuel price cuts after nationwide supermarket Asda slashed the price of petrol and diesel by 2p per litre.
The latest cut sees prices drop to 115.0p a litre for petrol and 118.9p for diesel.
Shell, as well as supermarkets Tesco and Morrisons, followed Asda’s lead just a couple of hours later, while Sainsbury’s stated it would adhere to the price cut shortly.
David Miles, commercial director at Asda, says: "Motorists will be relieved commodity prices are coming down and as always we are the first to reflect falling costs in our prices at the pump."
The price cuts come after the AA criticised retailers for failing to pass on to customers falls in the cost of fuel at wholesale value.
After average UK petrol prices reached an all-time record of 121.61p per litre last week, the AA states that fuel costs have finally stabilised for the first time in February.
