Car hire firms in demand?

Car hire companies may be busier than usual this May Day bank holiday weekend, new figures have suggested.

A Travelsupermarket.com poll stated that more than a quarter of people in the UK have altered their holiday plans and are planning to stay in the country due to the recent volcanic eruption in Iceland.

Expert from the organisation Bob Atkinson remarked: "The range of attractions and things to do within the UK is fantastic, there is something for everyone."

He added that the options are unlimited and include theatre breaks, countryside cottages, city breaks or visits to holiday parks.

The survey also revealed that 13 per cent of those quizzed noted they have already made plans for a trip that does not involve going on a plane.

Meanwhile, people choosing car hire from Edinburgh airport may take advantage of lower fuel prices if the Scottish National Party wins the general election as the organisation has proposed it will petition for lower duty.
