Holidaymakers choosing car hire from Manchester Airport may want to visit some of the north-west’s many tourist attractions, according to the National Trust.

The organisation said that car hire customers and tourists are never more than 40 minutes away from a day out at one of the country’s 300 historic houses.

People travelling on the M6 may want to consider a trip to Acorn Bank and Windmill, which is just ten minutes from the M6, the institution claimed, while day-trippers can explore the gardens or visit the tea-room that uses home grown ingredients in many of its dishes.

Those who want to travel further north were advised they can join the M62 and head to Nostell Priory, a 350-year-old mansion surrounded by acres of gardens.

The Family Holiday Association recently stated that taking a short break or trip can make a difference to the wellbeing of family members.
