Car hire customers and other tourists are being advised that there are hundreds of activities to take part in across the UK between March 15th and 21st, according to one expert.

Bernard Donoghue, co-chair of the British Tourism Week, noted that if people go on to britishtourismweek.com they will find a whole calendar of services and attractions that will be available.

One of the initiatives being introduced is that as part of the week, entry to all National Trust sites in England and Wales will be free of charge on March 20th and 21st.

He remarked that if 32 million people came to Britain from abroad every year then people here should really be thinking "well if the world is coming here and loves it, shouldn’t we too?".

According to the organisation, tourism is the fifth largest industry in the UK and it is worth £144 billion – which is 8.2 per cent of the country’s gross domestic product.
