Car hire customers to sample Birmingham nightlife?

Car hire customers in Birmingham who are looking for nightlife may find themselves in a JD Wetherspoon.

This is because the pub chain is planning to open 250 new establishments – including a proposed expansion in the second city – in the next five years, as it seeks to grow as the country comes out of the recession.

Eddie Gershon, media spokesperson for the group, noted that there is not good representation in the north and so the organisation wants to increase its presence.

"Obviously in big city centres you do get tourists and weekend people, so yes, that’s an advantage," he added.

And Mr Gershon commented that his company will be identifying a number of locations in the city over the next couple of years.

It was recently reported by the Birmingham Post that JD Wetherspoon was to open up four new premises in the Midlands area after record results.
