Car hire customers to enjoy clear roads?

Car hire customer may benefit from less congested roads if recommendations by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) are accepted.

A survey by the CBI has found that 80 per cent of organisations view roads as essential to their firms and so it wants to see a staggered approach to the working day implemented to alleviate the problems of rush hour.

The introducing of carpools and delivering broadband to every home are other methods being suggested.

John Cridland, the group’s deputy director-general, noted that for too long "Britain’s roads have been a cause of frustration and delays for our businesses and commuters".

He observed there is a need a radical overhaul of how roads are managed and how individuals travel on them.

It was recently revealed that the UK’s infrastructure may become safer after proposals were unveiled to improve standards at works sites.

Transport secretary Sadiq Khan stated that tackling the disruption from these locations is high on his list of priorities.
