Car hire customers ‘may be Spanish’

It has been revealed that car hire customer in the UK are more likely to be Spanish than they are Greek.

A survey by Skyscanner has found that people from the Iberian Peninsula visit Great Britain and Northern Ireland the most.

Second on the list was Poland, while Germany rounded out the top three.

Barry Smith, co-founder and development director of the company, noted that there is a great deal to do in the country, in terms of "history, architecture, cities, customs and countryside".

"We need to ensure that the message to come and visit Britain is getting out there and that we continue to be a world-class tourist destination," he added.

A poll by the Economist has found that the UK currently ranks sixth in terms of popularity in the world.

Skyscanner is a flight search engine that allows those looking for flights to check multiple airlines at the same time.
