Camping ’set to be popular in 2010′
Car hire customers who are camping enthusiasts may be getting prepared to get their equipment out for the first time this year, it has been claimed.
The Caravan Club has revealed that bookings for this year are "exceptionally buoyant", with Easter traditionally seen as the start of the season.
Nick Lomas, director of marketing for the company, noted that this kind of holiday offers "tremendous economic value, not just for the holidaymaker but for the rural economy also".
He added that "touring is an exceptionally affordable way for a family to take a break".
Members of the group spent some £400 million on rural tourism last year, which marked the launch of the Discover Tourism campaign.
The drive is set to continue into 2010, the organisation stated, with 30,000 sampler magazines already being requested.
It was recently observed by the club that 500,000 more bed nights were booked by individuals in 2009.
