Bank holiday attractions for car hire customers

The range of activities available for car hire customers in the UK this weekend has been highlighted by an expert.

Head of marketing for VisitEngland Amanda Smyth noted that the tourist body’s website offers suggestions for families with kids of all ages.

And those choosing London car hire may be interested in some of the events taking place in the capital, as she said: "Whether you’re escaping for the whole weekend or just taking a day trip, you’ll find great exhibitions like Toy Boats at the National Maritime Museum."

Options elsewhere in the country include May Day Crafts at Northumberland’s Alnwick Castle, while the University of the Great Outdoors may be chosen by tourists staying near Hampton Court Gardens in Herefordshire.

Ms Smyth’s comments come after the Office for National Statistics identified a six per cent drop in the number of people living in the UK who are choosing to take holidays abroad, with staycations becoming more popular.
