Back to the sky with car hire at Stansted

Those using car hire at Stansted who arrive in October may find the plane they flew in on is just one of the many aircraft they will encounter on their visit.

However, a drive to Duxford for the Autumn Air Show will not involve going in a plane – but will show off a grand spectacle as a wide range of aircraft from the past and present takes to the skies.

The central theme of the show is the 65th birthday of the B-17 Flying Fortress G-BEDF Sally B, which is the last one flying in the UK and has been at Duxford for 35 years.

A spitfire will also bring a flavour of the Second World War, while more modern contributions include the Royal Navy's Black Cats helicopter display team.

The event is the last air show of the year, with those arriving in early September able to see the Battle of Britain Air Show on September 4th and 5th, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the famous event.

Duxford is easy to get to from Stansted, with a simple journey up the M11 motorway towards Cambridge.

You can reach the base by taking the A505 turning at Junction 10.
