BA cabin crew ‘will not strike at Easter’
Passengers planning car hire from Heathrow Airport will not be affected by strike action at Easter, it has been confirmed.
Unite, the union representing British Airways (BA) cabin crew in a dispute with the airline, explained that action over the holiday period was never planned.
Assistant general secretary of the union Len McCluskey, who is leading the negotiations, said that families can make travel arrangements for April in confidence.
"If industrial action receives the required mandate from the members and strike action is made necessary by continuing management intransigence, we will not call such action over the Easter holiday period," he added.
A ballot is to open on Monday (January 25th) and will conclude on February 22nd.
Commenting on the announcement, Cheapflights praised Unite for acting responsibly and urged it to put customers – such as those planning car hire from Heathrow Airport – first, as negotiations with the carrier continue.
